Himalayan salt stones not only serve an aesthetic function as a decorative element in saunas, but they may also offer certain potential wellness benefits for users.

Below are some of the effects commonly attributed to Himalayan salt stones in a sauna

Air Ionisation

Himalayan salt stones are believed to have the ability to ionise the air. When heated in a sauna, they may release negative ions into the surrounding environment. Negative ions are often associated with helping to purify the air by neutralising positive ions and airborne pollutants. This can contribute to improved air quality inside the sauna and create a fresher and more pleasant atmosphere.

Support for the Respiratory System

Himalayan salt contains various minerals and trace elements that may have a beneficial effect on the respiratory system. When salt stones are heated, they can release microscopic salt particles into the air. Inhaling these particles is commonly associated with salt therapy (halotherapy), which may help alleviate symptoms of allergies, asthma, and other respiratory conditions.

Relaxation and Anti-Stress Effects

Spending time in a sauna equipped with Himalayan salt stones may enhance relaxation and stress reduction. Himalayan salt contains minerals such as magnesium, which is known for its calming and muscle-relaxing properties. During a sauna session, the combination of heat and salt-infused air can support overall physical and mental relaxation, contributing to reduced tension and improved well-being.
